Privacy Policy

This describes what Verified collects, why, and how it's used. It's written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate — if anything is unclear, ask before you sign up.

What we collect

  • Account basics: email address, handle, password (stored securely, never in plain text)
  • Profile info you add: avatar, bio
  • Date of birth, self-declared at signup — used to determine access to 18+ content and to compute your age; not verified against any ID
  • Content you post: posts, replies, quotes, reposts, likes, bookmarks, direct messages
  • Who you follow, mute, and block
  • Engagement data: which posts you've viewed (deduped to one view per post, only while logged in), shares
  • Push notification subscription details, if you turn push notifications on
  • Moderator-only data where relevant: strikes, suspensions, and moderator role/level, if you are a moderator

What we don't collect

  • We do not track logged-out visits — no IP address logging or device fingerprinting for view counts or analytics
  • We do not verify your identity against a government ID; age and identity are self-declared

How it's used

  • To run the core features of the app: your feed, notifications, messages, and profile
  • To review pending posts before they go live, and to investigate reports of rule-breaking content
  • To send you notifications (in-app and, if enabled, push) about activity relevant to you
  • To enforce our Rules & Content Policy — including applying strikes, suspensions, or bans where warranted

Who can see what

  • Approved posts, your handle, avatar, and bio are public to anyone using the app
  • Pending and rejected posts are visible only to you and to moderators reviewing them
  • Direct messages are visible only to the people in that conversation
  • Your email, date of birth, and exact age are never shown to other users
  • Moderators reviewing content can see the author's handle, but not their email or date of birth

Where it's stored

Verified is built on Supabase (database and authentication) and hosted on Vercel. Both are third-party infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf under their own security practices — we don't sell or share your data with anyone beyond what's needed to run the app.

Your choices

  • You can edit your bio, avatar, muted/blocked words, and content preferences at any time in Settings
  • You can turn push notifications on or off at any time in Settings
  • You can delete individual posts, messages you've sent, and unfollow/mute/block other users at any time

Children's privacy

Verified requires accounts to self-declare a minimum age of 13 to sign up, and content marked 18+ is only shown to accounts that have declared themselves 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how your data is handled, we'll update this page and the date below.
